Tailoring the feminine look

Occasionally, you desire a more glamorous look. At the same time, maybe your lifestyle doesn’t allow for glamour. Being super dressed up may not be convenient if you are a traveler, a mother, or always on the go. There is a solution. If you feel you are either too dressed up or too casual you can be in between!

How to pull it off:

If you have a blazer (tailored)........add a silk top(feminine)

If you have a pencil skirt (feminine)...........add a long knit sweater (feminine) and suede boots (tailored)

If you wear a dress (feminine).........add booties (tailored)

If you have a minimal military style dress (tailored)......add jewelry (feminine)

If you have a turtleneck and a cardigan (feminie)..........add denim (tailored)

Why you should try it:
-Makes you feel feminine yet in charge
-Easy to mix glamor and casual pieces for daytime
-Dress up without feeling over the top

5 Fashion Rules you CAN break!

Doesn't there seem to be a sort of "fashion rule book" that we follow?  I have made a list of 5 you can now leave behind.  This is the new, the fresh, and the future (for now at least).  The thing with trends is it never hurts to try them.  If you try it and decide you don't like it, that's completely fine but try another one instead!

One more thing to keep in mind, when it comes to trends keep it affordable until you decide you LOVE it.

1.) Socks with heels

What color? neutrals; creme, beige, light brown, brown,  gray, light gray, black
What shoe?  Pointy toe, short boot, knee length boot, thigh high boot, strapy shoes, peep toe
How do I wear it? With skirts, shorts, dresses, hosiery, cropped wool pants. It does not
need to match the color of the shoe or the hosiery, it should match the outfit.

2.) Mixing prints and patterns

How do I wear it? The way to start is get one print and then pair it with another and make sure it is       pleasing to the eye.  The best thing to do would be to make it simple until you have mastered it.  For those that want to try it in their work place, take a printed blouse or top and layer it with a tweed blazer.

3.) Sequins during the day

How do I wear it? You must mix it with something casual to dress it down for the day.  Add a tweed jacket and boots, a military style jacket and structured top, cotton tee and chunky jewelry, or jeans.

4.) Miltary pieces can be dressed up

How do I wear it? Pair a tulip skirt with a field or utility jacket. Layer the field or utility jacket with a sequin or silky top.

5.) Open toed shoes with business suit

How do I wear it? First of all! Make sure you have had a pedicure, there is nothing worse than looking at a foot that hasn't been taken care of before hand.  Been there! Done that! Let's continue :-) For the business suit or business wear outfits you must make sure the shoe does not scream and grab too much attention.  It should be fairly simple.  The most dramatic you would want to go is patent leather or a bold color.  Probably don't want to add sparkles and giant wedges or platforms.

Let me know what you tried, what worked, what didn't, and why!
