Not the Red Holiday Sweater!

This holiday season put away your red sweater! There are a variety of options to pick from.

CONSERVATIVE

If you go for classic cuts, solid color button ups, and timeless pieces you will enjoy this sweater!  It cinches at the waist and is flattering for the figure.

  CASUAL

If you like to wear jeans, leggings, flats, or flat boots this sweater will be the perfect way to dress up!

 ELEGANT

The draping is elegant and stunning for a holiday party.  The darker red is wonderful for evening and a fabulous fall color.  Pearls or gold jewelry will compliment this nicely.

 ORGANIC

I love this green color! This would look great with an A line skirt and unique jewelry.

 TRENDY

The Curvy Woman's Guide to Dressing this Winter

JEWELRY

Color me beautiful recycled necklace $52 @ EcoBlingCouture

The chunkier the better! Buy a necklace with two or three layers. Try longer earrings to elongate the face and don’t forget, color in the jewelry will draw attention to facial features.  If you aren’t into big jewely, get a necklace with a pendant that represents you!

FLOWY SWEATER

Amber Sun Long Ruffle Cardigan $52.90 @ Nordstrom

Try One size smaller than your normal size and make sure whatever you wear underneath or on bottom is fitted, not baggy.  Avoid too much fabric on the hips and prints on the lower part of the sweater.

SWEATER DRESS

Ponte Knit Cowl Neck for $49.99 @ Lane Bryant

¾ sleeve/short sleeve with empire waist or shaped to fit curves, make sure it hits right above or below the knee , if it is too short it will accentuate the knees.

BOOTS

Madda Girl Ditta Boot for $59.95 @ DSW

Sleek and fitted, no ruching, no cowboy boots. Boots should go all the way over the calf and try to avoid too many details. This boot has great lines to elongate the leg and there is room for the calves!

JACKETS

Take the Wheel Jacket for $98.00 @ Anthopologie

Hip length with rolled up sleeves.  If you are top heavy avoid big lapels or too much ruffles going on at the top.  I love this jacket because it has a fit that allows room at the bust and has a nice line to it to allow room for the hips.

Secrets to update your winter coat

Let it snow! As the days are getting colder, more of you have been interested in what style of coats to shop for!  The holidays are just around the corner and I know your budgets are becoming tighter which is why I have come up with a fabulous idea. You should revamp the coats you already own.  Not as crazy as you may think, especially since the styles off the runway only require a few additions to a basic tweed or solid colored coat.  Take a look for yourself, pick and choose what you like and you will end up with a couture piece that is one of a kind.  Which are your favorites?

The Bootie: Makes soft colored dresses edgy and rolled up pants that much cooler

Wedge: This is a trendy but comfortable shoe. Good for walking and looking stylish at the same time.

Clean cut: This is a mix of classic and versatile. If you are on a budget and like to play it safe, the clean cut is the best to go from day to night.

Anyone can wear leggings

Leggings. Do you love them, have trouble with them, or want to try them out? Here is a quick guide to adopt this new staple to your personality.

Comfortable

[caption id="attachment_67" align="aligncenter" width="193" caption="Boots, black leggings, longer v-neck top, and a black 3/4 length blazer. This is for an on the go, in a hurry, grocery shopping, or running errands kind of outfit."][/caption]

Sexy

[caption id="attachment_69" align="aligncenter" width="198" caption="A shirt/dress that hits right under the bum would be best. Try an empire cut, one cinched at the waist a little, or belted and flowy. Heels accentuate the legs, create height, and captures a sexy look. This is nice for happy hour, dinner, or a night out with the girls. Mommy\'s you can try this too!"][/caption]

Ladies with curves

[caption id="attachment_71" align="aligncenter" width="112" caption="Have you avoided leggings because you have curves? That is about to change personal style. To be safe and feel good in leggings you must wear black leggings and black boots to keep the lower half neutral. The details must be at the top, near the neckline. Try a print, a cowl neck, v-neck or scarf to do this. I do prefer not to show any hip, try a dress rather than a top. Something like a wrap dress, a belted one, or a comfy sweater dress like this one in the example."][/caption]

It's all in the small details

[caption id="attachment_70" align="aligncenter" width="131" caption="So effortless. I know it is the goal of many. She looks good with so little but the details are what make this outfit stand out. A sweater, no brainer. Leggings, fitted and comfortable but the shine to them add a nice design element. Red heels, they are just hot. Clutch in the daytime, she just made the look glamorous "][/caption]

This is business!
[caption id="attachment_73" align="aligncenter" width="200" caption="Feel powerful with each step you take, look important, achieve your mission. This means business. Leather leggings, heels, a nice jacket (this is your shell, make a statement with it too please!), and a handbag. You don\'t need much, just the right pieces to make the cut."][/caption]

Casual, Feel good outfit

[caption id="attachment_74" align="aligncenter" width="200" caption="This is another color, dark brown leggings. Add an oversized blousy top and a fitted shorter jacket. For accessories add a hair piece or big earrings and a bracelet. You can take this outfit into the evening with heels and a cocktail ring in a fun color!"][/caption]

An alternative to your typical work pant

Businesses now allow for a more casual environment which means you can steer clear from the typical work pant and can venture into a more comfortable and creative look.  If you feel you are living in a past fashion memory, take a tip from below, add a new feel to the professional image you want to portray to your clients and co workers.

1. Cropped Fitted Pant Suit

Dianne Von Furstenberg

If: You find that you really like the matching pant and jacket, try adding a suit with a cropped pant and fitted jacket to update the look.
Add: Flat pointed toe shoes and an accessory to make this represent you!

2. Long pants with button details on the side

Ralph Lauren

If:  you enjoy layering and want a look that is comfortable yet professional ,wear a pant with button details down the side.  You can take this from work to clothing to wear casually.  It is not only easy to move around in but it looks great
Add: Neutrals, a brown turtle neck (which is all over the runways), gray jacket ( I told you that brown and gray can go together), and an accessory to really own the outfit (clutch, bangles, handbag, belt, earrings, etc).  Keep a level of professionalism with your casual look.

3. Short rolled up pants

If: You are in a creative business field, why not wear pieces that are not only stylish they look put together.
Add: Booties, a fitted top and a big texture inspired and/or printed sweater.  Show off some of that creative self through your clothing.

4. Leggings
If: You want to show off your legs, feel sexy, yet keep it clean, or travel and want to be jet set.
Add: Brown suede boots, a jacket that goes past the hip, and a turtleneck. Feel confident and look good.

What change will you make this fall?  Personally, I love the short rolled up pants, as a stylist, I run around all day helping women go through closets, shop for multiple outfits in 3 hours minimum and do paperwork from home.  Need I say more :-)

Tailoring the feminine look

Occasionally, you desire a more glamorous look. At the same time, maybe your lifestyle doesn’t allow for glamour. Being super dressed up may not be convenient if you are a traveler, a mother, or always on the go. There is a solution. If you feel you are either too dressed up or too casual you can be in between!

How to pull it off:

If you have a blazer (tailored)........add a silk top(feminine)

If you have a pencil skirt (feminine)...........add a long knit sweater (feminine) and suede boots (tailored)

If you wear a dress (feminine).........add booties (tailored)

If you have a minimal military style dress (tailored)......add jewelry (feminine)

If you have a turtleneck and a cardigan (feminie)..........add denim (tailored)

Why you should try it:
-Makes you feel feminine yet in charge
-Easy to mix glamor and casual pieces for daytime
-Dress up without feeling over the top

XOXO
